Grower Liaison

0417 895 292 – ross@macnut.com.au

Ross’s forbears have been involved in growing produce for more than 170 years… so sap should be flowing through his veins!

After obtaining tertiary qualifications in Horticulture he was awarded the ‘WJ Brens’ scholarship, for academic excellence in Victoria. The award allowed him to study and work for a period of 12 months throughout New Zealand in many varying horticultural fields.

His vocational career spans almost 50 years and includes – academia, research, forestry and over 25 years of self-employment in both the nursery and Macadamia Industries. Ross has been employed for the last 11 years as ‘Grower Liaison Officer’ with Macadamias Direct.

One of Ross’s proudest moments is his work with the Arakwal clan (of the Bundjalung people). He was recognised for his part in reconciliation, along with the training and mentoring of Arakwal youth back to ‘their country’ and into the National Parks Ranger program (Byron Bay).

Two things you wouldn’t know about Ross:

….. In years gone by he was very fast and ranked amongst the top 10 sprinters in Australia for several years.

….. His paternal grandmother was related to the founders of the Marriott Hotel Group.
